Doa Ketika di Timpa Musibah

Source : Riyad al-Salihin
Chapter : 152 , No : 921
Book : Visiting the Sick

921. Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "When a person suffers from a calamity and utters: 'Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji'un. Allahumma ajirni fi musibati, wakhluf li khayran minha (We belong to Allah and to Him we shall return. O Allah! Compensate me in my affliction, recompense my loss and give me something better in exchange for it), then Allah surely compensates him with reward and better substitute." Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) said: When Abu Salamah (May Allah be pleased with him) died, I repeated the same supplication as the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) had commanded me (to do). So Allah bestowed upon me a better substitute than him (I was married to Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)).

[Muslim].

Commentary:

The better substitute which fell to Umm Salamah (May Allah be pleased with her) as her lot, was her marriage with the Prophet (PBUH) after the death of her husband Abu Salamah (May Allah be pleased with him). She got the reward in her earthly life. If somebody remains deprived of it in the world, he is sure to have it in the life to come. However, this depends on the Will of Allah, for being the Creator, He has the best knowledge of what is appropriate and good for us.

****************************************

Wallahu a'lam.

Hak Guru

Sumber : Pendidikan Anak-Anak Menurut Pandangan Islam
Karya : Abdullah Nasih 'Ulwan

"Tidak termasuk dalam golonganku sesiapa yang tidak memuliakan orang tua, tidak mengasihi orang muda dan tidak mengetahui hak orang yang alim". {Hadith riwayat Ahmad dan al-Tabrani serta al-Hakim}

*************************

Daripada Abu Hurayrah RA katanya, Rasulullah SAW bersabda:

" Pelajarilah ilmu dan pelajarilah ketenangan dan ketetapan ilmu itu, dan merendah dirilah kepada orang yang kamu menuntut daripadanya". {Hadith riwayat al-Tabrani dalam al-Awsat}

************************

Daripada Abu Umamah daripada Rasulullah SAW sabdanya:

" Tiga perkara yang tidak dipandang ringan kepadanya, kecuali oleh orang munafik iaitu: orang muda dalam Islam, orang berilmu dan ketua yang adil ". {Hadith riwayat al-Tabrani}

************************

Rasulullah SAW bersabda:

"Wahai Tuhanku, janganlah aku alami satu zaman di mana orang pandai tidak lagi diikuti dan orang berakhlak tidak lagi disegani, hati mereka hati 'ajam [bukan Arab] dan lidah mereka lidah Arab ". {Hadith riwayat al-Imran Ahmad ibn Sahl ibn Sa'ad al-Sa'idi}

***********************

" Siapakah antara keduanya yang banyak sekali menghafaz al-Quran?" Apabila diisyaratkan kepada salah seorang daripadanya, maka Rasulullah SAW mendahulukannya ke dalam liang lahad ". {Hadith riwayat al-Bukhari}

Kesimpulannya,

Abu 'Abdullah bin Abul-'as (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I complained to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about a pain I had in my body. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "Place your hand where you feel pain and say: 'Bismillah (With the Name of Allah)' three times; and then repeat seven times: 'A'udhu bi'izzatillahi wa qudratihi min sharri ma ajidu wa 'uhadhiru (I seek refuge with Allah and with His Power from the evil that afflicts me and that which I apprehend)."'

[Muslim].

Commentary:

This Hadith tells us it is not necessary that a patient should exclusively get Ruqyah from others; rather he can also do Ruqyah himself by reciting the Prophet's supplications.

**Ruqyah : Recite supplication or Quranic Ayat and blow.

Teringat semasa 7 tahun lampau tatkala saya menanggung sakit contraction seawal 31 minggu ketika mengandungkan Ameen.

Chapter : Honoring the Guest

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (PBUH) said, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him show hospitality to his guest; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him maintain good relation with kins; and he who believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak good or remain silent."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

Commentary: To honour a guest means to welcome him cheerfully, entertain him happily according to our capacity and have full regard of his comfort and rest. As for our relatives, we are supposed to treat them nicely and to do our duty towards them.

Reserve in speech implies that we should avoid senseless and irrelevant talk. We are apt to pass most of our time in the remembrance of Allah, seeking His forgiveness and saying what is good to everybody. Or we had better keep silent. These three qualities are possessed by those people who believe in Allah and the Day of Reckoning.

In other words, those who lack these qualities betray only a weak and imperfect Faith.

**************************************

Abu Shuraih Khuwailid bin 'Amr Al-Khuza'i (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saying, "He who believes in Allah and the Last Day, should accommodate his guest according to his right." He was asked: "What is his right, O Messenger of Allah?" He (PBUH) replied: "It is (to accommodate him) for a day and a night, and hospitality extends for three days, and what is beyond that is charity."

[Al-Bukhari and Muslim].

In Muslim it is added: Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said, "It is not permissible for a Muslim to stay so long with his brother till he makes him sinful." He was asked: "O Messenger of Allah, how can he make him sinful?" He replied, "He prolongs his stay with him till nothing is left with the host to entertain him (guest)."

Commentary: This Hadith throws light on something more of the etiquette and scope of hospitality. A guest ought to be given the best entertainment on the first day and night. For the next two days, hospitality should be moderate. On the fourth day, the guest should leave for his destination. Yet if he chooses to stay, hospitality will be in the sense of charity.

12 Rabi'ul Awwal 1432H

The Prophet Muhammad {peace be upon him}
{ b. 570 - d. 632 }

The Prophet Muhammad's Last Sermon { Khutbatul Wida' }

This sermon was delivered on the Ninth Day of Dhul-Hijjah, 10 A.H. (632 CE) in the ‘Uranah valley of Mount Arafat in Makkah. It was the occasion of the annual rites of Hajj (the pilgrimage). It is also known as the Farewell Pilgrimage.

After praising, and thanking Allah (The One True God) the Prophet began with the words:

“O People! lend me an attentive ear, for I know not whether after this year I shall ever be amongst you again. Therefore, listen carefully to what I am saying and Take These Words to Those Who Could Not Be Present Here Today.“O People! just as you regard this month, this day, this city as Sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Hurt no one so that no one may hurt you. Remember that you will indeed meet your LORD, and that he will indeed reckon your deeds.

“Allah has forbidden you to take usury (interest), therefore all interest obligations shall henceforth be waived. Your capital is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer any inequity. Allah has Judged that there shall be no interest and that all the interest due to Abbas ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib (Prophet’s uncle) be waived.

“Every right arising out of homicide in pre-Islamic days is henceforth waived and the first such right that I waive is that arising from the murder of Rabiah ibn al-Harithiah.

“O Men! the unbelievers indulge in tampering with the calender in order to make permissible that which Allah forbade, and to prohibit which Allah has made permissible. With Allah the months are twelve in number. Four of them are holy, three of these are successive and one occurs singly between the months of Jumada and Shaban.

“Beware of Satan, for the safety of your religion. He has lost all hope of that he will be able to lead you astray in big things, so beware of following him in small things.

“O People! it is true that you have certain rights with regard to your women but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under Allah’s trust and with His permission. If they abide by your right then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Do treat your women well and be kind to them for they are your partners and committed helpers. And it is your right that they do not make friends with anyone of whom you do not approve, as well as never to be unchaste.

“O People! listen to me in earnest, worship Allah, say your five daily prayers, fast during month of Ramadan, and give your wealth in Zakat (obligatory charity). Perform Hajj if you can afford to.

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly.

“Do not therefore do injustice to yourselves. Remember one day you will meet Allah and answer your deeds. So beware, do not astray from the path of righteousness after I am gone.

“O People! No Prophet or Apostle Will Come after Me and No New Faith Will Be Born. Reason well, therefore, O People! and understand words which I convey to you. I leave behind me two things, the QUR’AN and my SUNNAH (i.e., sayings, deeds, and approvals) and if you follow these you will never go astray.

“All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly.

“Be my witness O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.”

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

As part of this sermon, the Prophet recited them a Revelation from Allah which he had just received and which completed the Qur’an, for it was the last passage to be revealed:

This day the disbelievers despair of prevailing against your religion, so fear them not, but fear Me (Allah)! This day have I perfected for you your religion and fulfilled My favor unto you, and it hath been My good pleasure to choose Islam for you as your religion (Surah 5, Ayah 3).

The sermon was repeated sentence by sentence by Safwan’s brother Rabiah (RA), who had a powerful voice, at the request of the Prophet and he faithfully proclaimed to over ten thousand gathered on the occasion. Toward the end of his sermon, the Prophet asked “O people, have I faithfully delivered unto you my message?” A powerful murmur of assent “O Allah, yes!”, arose from thousands of pilgrims and the vibrant words “Allahumma na’m” rolled like thunder throughout the valley. The Prophet raised his forefinger and said: “Be my witness O Allah, that I have conveyed your message to your people.”

Mulianya Ramadhan

What type of journey on which breaking the fast is permissible?

The distance of the journey for which it is permissible to shorten the obligatory prayers and to break the fast is approximately 83 kilometres. Some scholars, however, do not specify a distance for the journey. They maintained that whatever is commonly understood as a journey amongst people constitutes a journey in Islam.

The Messenger of Allah (PBUH), used to shorten the prayers if he traveled 3 faraasikh (which is equal to 9 miles). If the journey is undertaken for impermissible purpose, then shortening the prayers and breaking the fast are not allowed because any journey that is undertaken for evil purposes does not deserve (such a) concession.

Some Muslim scholars, however, do not differentiate between a journey undertaken for an evil purpose and one undertaken for a permissible purpose because of the generality of the evidence surrounding the issue. Allah knows best.

Mulianya Ramadhan

Question : We live in a country where the sun does not set until 9:30 p.m. or 10:00 p.m. When should we break our fast?
Answer :
Break your fast when the sun has set. So long as you have a night and a day in 24 hours, it is obligatory that you fast even if the day is long.

Mulianya Ramadhan

Question: Is it permissible for a cook to taste the food whilst fasting?

Answer:
There is no harm in tasting food, if necessary. This can be done by placing it on the tip of the tongue too see how sweet or sour it is. However, none of it should be swallowed, rather, it should be spat out or taken out of the mouth. If the food is tasted in this manner, the fast stands valid. Allah knows best.
